A worthy dialogue
A – So what have you got to loose? Your ego, self doubt, all the fears giving you the blues? B – But surely something this great would be in the news? A – No the media pushes you down with other people’s views. B- So can I chant to afford a leisure cruise? A – is that for your highest good? B- I dunno there’d be a lot of booze. A – What about chanting to eat better food? B – Can I chant about my neighborhood? A – Aye you totally could. B – Well if I can chant for whatever I choose can I chant to have a much longer fuse? A – Please do when you’re angry it really gives me the blues. B – So I let go of my ego, get rid of my fuse what do I do about the 6 o’clock news? A – Chant to change ignorant views. You’ll find what’s outside is really in, so all your judgments go in the bin. B – So I’m the mad one and Mrs May’s no a loony? A – Well it takes a while to understand Esho Funi. Dependent origination is where it begins, we stop reacting to events and judging other’s sins. B – Sounds rather complex, let’s chant we’ll chat about it when we meet next.
I wrote the above poem for an SGI discussion meeting where the theme was dialogue. I’ve been chanting Nam MyoHo Renge Kyo for 18 years now and it’s really enhanced my life if you have any questions about it please feel free to ask via the contact page.
